Emirates A350 delays, rollout pushed

Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has postponed the introduction of its first A350-900 aircraft until November 4, when it will commence daily flights to Edinburgh.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Emirates cited delivery delays from Airbus as the reason for pushing back the debut of the new widebody jet. Edinburgh has replaced Bahrain International as the A350’s inaugural destination, which was originally scheduled for September 15.

An Emirates spokesperson commented, “Once we begin receiving our A350s, we will prioritize their entry into service and strive to minimize any further delays. Emirates remains committed to deploying our A350 fleet at the earliest opportunity.”

The revised rollout schedule for Emirates’ A350-900 includes:

  • EK23 flights between Dubai and Edinburgh starting November 4
  • EK839/840 flights between Dubai and Bahrain starting November 15
  • EK853/854 flights between Dubai and Kuwait starting November 15
  • EK502/503 flights between Dubai and Mumbai International starting January 1, 2025
  • EK538/539 flights between Dubai and Ahmedabad starting January 1
  • A350 service to Bologna starting January 1
  • EK654/655 flights between Dubai and Colombo International starting January 2
  • EK866/867 flights between Dubai and Muscat starting March 1
  • A350 service to Lyon St. ExupĂ©ry starting March 1

Emirates currently has an order for 65 A350-900s, with plans previously indicating ten in operation by March 2025. Any updates to these figures have not yet been disclosed.
